Well, learning skills plays a paramount role in everyone’s life in order to become independent. Although, I have learnt a number of skill from different personalities throughout my life. But here I would like to talk about a skill that I learnt from an older person. I was totally free, as my school was closed and I had nothing to do. Then my mother suggested me to learn a new skill.
The skill is none other than cooking. cooking. Actually, it happened three years ago when my country’s administration imposed a total lockdown on the whole nation due to the spread of the COVID pandemic. No one was allowed to step out of the house, so I was forced to stay at home. At that time, I had craze for learning to cook, so I got an opportunity to learn. Firstly, I started learning from YouTube videos, but it was not enough for me. Then I convinced my grandmother to teach me as she is an expert at it. When it comes to the question why I learnt it, so she guided me step by step. Firstly, I became familiar with basic spices, and then, after two months of continuous learning, I started preparing them on my own. And I became an expert at culinary skills.
I really felt over the moon after learning it because, by learning it, I made prudent use of my free time. It changed my life in a positive way because, after the lockdown, I started my own cooking channel on YouTube as well as a small restaurant to satisfy the hunger of individuals. In this way, I started earning and made my future blessed. All in all, this was the time when I learnt from an old citizen.

Well i am a kind of person who is always eager to learn new things. i have learnt a lot from elderly people in my life. But Here I would prefer to talk about an amazing skill that I have got to learn from my grandmother, namely, cooking. Actually my grandmother is really into cooking, she has an excellent culinary skills. Even in her 70s she happily and enthusiastically participate in this activity. we all are hugely impressed by my grandmother’s cooking. She told me that since her school days she is fond of cooking, every weekend she used to try her hand at preparing various new dishes.

Thus over time she became expert in it. As for how I learned it, Since my college days I have been learning this fabulous skill from my grandmother. During lockdown I had plenty of time as we were not supposed to step out of our houses for some days so I thought I should make the most of this free time by learning something meaningful or useful. I decided to develop the skill of cooking.
My grandmother, too was excited to teach me the skill which she possess. I decided to make at least one meal a day. As practice makes a man perfect, with regular practice and the help of my granny I could learn so much. Once my cousin made a visit to my house I baked a chocolate cake for him, after eating it he appreciated my experience, knowledge of cooking which made me feel over the moon at that time.
I believe it’s essential to learn this skill it’s very useful for us, Now if in the future I live alone and apart from my family for studying or working purpose, this skill will be money saver for me because I know how to cook. I won’t need to order food for myself. Finally I must say, iam exceptionally grateful to my lovely grandmother for teaching me such important, wonderful skill of cooking.
